See Your Eye Doctor First
If you would like to wear contact lenses, you must first see an ophthalmologist, an optometrist, or (in some U.S. states) an optician. An eye-care consultation is required even if you don't normally wear glasses and just want to change your eye color. Why? Because contact lenses are medical devices that must be properly fitted by an eye-care practitioner and can only be dispensed by prescription. They must be regarded with the same caution used for prescription drugs, which includes adhering to prescription expiration dates as well as follow-up visits with your eye doctor. Because eyes can gradually change in size, shape and physiological requirements (such as oxygen), your eyes need to be checked regularly as this can affect the fit and /or health of the cornea.
The Georgia Senate has determined that contact lens prescriptions expire 12 months after your last complete eye exam. At Thomas Eye Group, our contact lens specialists can help you once you have your prescription.
If you would like a prescription or a fitting for contact lenses, please call us for an appointment, or use our online appointment request form. If you already have a prescription, Re-order Contact Lenses online with our online order form.
